We are honored beyond words to be able to take part in a musical and personal tribute to musical legend, longtime Relâche member and exceptional human being Guy Klucevsek. Guy was, of course, much more than just an innovative performer who almost single-handedly brought the accordion, in his own words “out of the beer hall and into the concert hall”. He was also a prolific composer whose unique voice—informed equally by the polkas he learned as a youth and his years as a fixture in New York’s downtown new music community—had the rare ability to make audiences think and smile at the same time.
 

But Guy was much more than that; to us, he was a colleague, a mentor, and a friend. Even long after he had left Relâche as a performing member, he was never far away; Over the years we’ve performed dozens of his works in various settings, although never with another accordionist—Guy was a singular talent in that way. He was always eager to give us something of his, and encouraged us to make it our own in whatever manner we thought would capture its spirit.
 

In February, we’ll take the stage at Brooklyn’s legendary New Music venue Roulette and join with so many others in celebrating the life, legacy and of course the music of this extraordinary man.
