Past positions include the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, the New World Symphony, and the National Symphony of Ireland, where Amy was also part of the internationally recognized contemporary ensemble Nua Nos, or  “New Noise”. A committed chamber musician, Amy was a founding member of the Pyxis Piano Quartet, with whom she performed for twelve years. Subsequently she created and directed the “Music at the Mansion” chamber series at The Woodlands in West Philadelphia, and is a founder and arranger for the Philadelphia Viola Quartet.  Recital appearances have been at Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church, the Philadelphia Ethical Society, the Music School of Delaware, Spoleto Festival USA, and the Municipal Art Museum (Dublin).

 

Recognizing the importance of teaching, Amy has taught beginners to graduate students and currently maintains a large and lively studio of viola, violin, and piano students at home and at The Shipley School in Bryn Mawr.

 

Viola performance degrees are from the Oberlin Conservatory and the Manhattan School of Music. Principal teachers were Leonard Mogill, Jeffrey and Lynne Ramsey Irvine, Karen Ritscher, and Jane Starkman. Other notable influences were Felix Galimir, Charles Bruck, and Norman Fischer.
